The Double Cleansing Method & Why You Need it

Why you need to incorporate the double cleansing method into your skin care routine?

Glowing, healthy skin starts with having clean skin.  As you go through the day, you're adding many layers to the skin from makeup to sweat and pollution in the air.  These often clog the pores and lead to skin concerns such as acne, blackheads, redness and overall unhealthy skin. So, how do you keep your skin clean and healthy? Double cleanse baby!

What is the Double Cleansing Method and Why Do You Need It?

Double cleansing is a popular skin care cleansing method in Southeast Asia, and especially in Japan. After a long day, your skin collects dirt and pollutant on top of the makeup and SPF you may be wearing.  A face wash product alone is not enough to cleanse away the grime that has been accumulated.  This is where an oil-based cleanser come in!

How to do the Double Cleansing Method?

An Oil Cleanser is the first step to your skin care routine. An oil cleanser is powerful and effective in removing your make-up and the buildup on your skin, yet it doesn’t strip away your skin’s natural moisture. Choosing the best oil cleanser for you depends on your skin type, the ingredients in the cleanser, and what kind of product texture you prefer. We absolutely love DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, it’s a natural oil cleanser and it is great for all skin types.

How to use it:

With dry hands and a dry face, put an appropriate amount on to the palm of your hands and massage the oil cleanser onto the face.  Once you're done, rinse your face with water and now it's time for the next step of the double cleanse.

Next, use your favorite gentle, foaming face wash. Following the oil cleanser with a face wash gets rid of any excess sebum and dirt that may be left. We recommend using the Senka Perfect Whip with a foaming net to create a luxurious texture that gently washes your face. It's important that this cleanser is water based or will foam up with water (powder cleanser) as the foam helps to protect you from harshly rubbing your skin.

And there you have it, a clean canvas for the next skin care products in your routine. The double cleansing method is an important step to incorporate because it can prevent clogged pores, black heads, and excess sebum production.

Is the Double Cleansing Method for night or morning routine?

Cleansing your skin in the morning and night is so important, but using an oil cleanser is recommended for a night routine.

Keep on glowing!
