7 J-Beauty Brands To Know

What brands come to mind when you I ask you to list out all of the Japanese Beauty brands you know…..I bet you’ll say something like Shiseido, Shu Uemura, Tatcha and SK-II.  I don’t blame you, the struggle is real when it comes to exploring J-beauty in the West. Luckily, we’re Jbeauty fanatics and here to discover all there is to know about Japanese beauty.  So let’s start with a few brands we think you should look out for online and when traveling to Japan.

LuLuLun

If you’re a sheet mask lover, you probably heard of LuLuLun, but if you haven’t, here’s the deets.  Japanese sheet masks are thoughtfully designed, they come in serval different pack size from singles to a 32 sheet mask pack (less plastic waste).  LuLuLun offers several types of sheet mask from aroma care masks to premium face masks, not to forget, they also have really cute packaging design.  You’ll love how refreshing and moisturizing these masks makes your skin feel.  

Dr.Ci:Labo (Labo Labo)

The Japanese dermatologist, Yoshinori Shirono, started this medical skincare line to be the best medical skincare brand for everyday use.  It’s main focus is on minimizing pores and clearing the skin of black heads and unclogging junk from pores.

CHIDORIYA

CHIDORIYA was established by Mr. Osamu Horikiri in Kyoto, Japan in 1949.  It was inspired by Geisha and Maiko’s skincare rituals.  From facial bars to facial oils, the package is so adorable and the product won’t let you down.   

Senka

This has got to be one of the most popular foaming cleanser in the world and a cult classic.  Senka is a subbrand of Shiseido formulated with natural silk essence. Senka Perfect Whip is perfect for daily cleansing.

Hada Labo

I think it’s only fair to say that Hada Labo’s Gokujyun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist has achieved cult status.  Hada Labo, which translated as ‘skin lab’, started in 2004 and is best known for quality made beauty products at affordable prices that can fit well into any beauty routines.  It’s been recognized as having the best hyaluronic acid products on the market in Japan. 

DHC

DHC has been around since the seventies, and is widely know for its hero product, Deep Cleansing Oil which can be found in pretty much every beauty store (including 7-11) in Japan.  If you haven’t tried cleansing oil…oh you (and your skin) are missing out. Beyond skincare, DHC also makes dietary supplements, hair and body products which is pretty common for most Japanese brand to focus on the whole person.

Melano CC

Melano CC is a brand under Rohto Mentholatum, a Japanese health (pharmaceutical) and beauty conglomerate whose scientific breakthroughs have contributed to its other brands Rohto, SkinAqua, Hada Labo, and more! Melano CC is Rohto's line specifically formed to target dark spots and brighten the skin with high concentration of Vitamin C that has proven efficacy.  Melano CC has a whole line up from toners to serum to moisturizer!
